Heimatklänge (Dok-Film, CH 2017)
„moaning and other singing“
Friday 02.11.2018, 6pm, Neues Theater
part of FreitagNacht!
Three Swiss vocalists have developed traditional yodeling into a unique musical language. Erika Stucky (akkordeon akut! 2017), who was a child in the USA, moved to Valais at the age of eight and unites American and local singing culture. Noldi Alder studied classical music and violin in order to continue the work of the traditional natural yodeller. And the pedagogue Christian Zehnder (directly afterwards live in concert) gives new impulses to overtone singing with his interpretation. In his documentary film, Stefan Schwietert presents this trio of highly idiosyncratic Swiss musicians who make a very different kind of folk music.
"Heimatklänge" received the C.I.C.A.E. Prize at Berlinale 2007, the Swiss Film Prize and a nomination for the European Film Prize.
