Heimatklänge (Dok-Film, CH 2017)
„moaning and other singing“
Friday 02.11.2018, 6pm, Neues Theater
part of FreitagNacht!
Three Swiss vocal artists have developed traditional yodelling into their own musical language. Erika Stucky (a guest on the accordion akut! 2017), who grew up in the USA, moved to Valais at the age of eight and combines American and local vocal culture. Noldi Alder studied classical music and violin in order to continue the work of the traditional natural yodel in a new way. And the voice teacher Christian Zehnder (immediately follows live in concert) gives new impulses to overtone singing with his interpretation.
In his documentary, Stefan Schwietert presents this trio of highly individual Swiss musicians who make a completely different kind of folk music than the one that so often flickers on television screens.
"Heimatklänge" received the C.I.C.A.E. Prize, the Swiss Film Prize and a nomination for the European Film Prize at the Berlinale in 2007.
