The story of LAESA – short for Landes-Akkordeon-Ensemble-Sachsen-Anhalt (Saxony-Anhalt’s accordion ensemble) – celebrates its 20th anniversary. A good reason to celebrate this story of sucess. Since 1996 more than 120 members have been colaborating with LAESA. The idea was that exceptionally talented students should be able to play complex original music in an orchestra. All of them are winners of renowned music competitions such as "Jugend musiziert", "German accordion music award" or the "World Music Festival Innsbruck". Many former members are successful musicians today: Susanne Stock, Valentin Butt who made his mark as a film composer, or Yvonne Grünwald with her Band “ELAIZA”.

The fact that LAESA, under the direction of Lutz Stark, receive standing ovations repeatedly is due to their dynamic and colorful sound patterns and their outstanding interpretation of contemporary composers. Hence, the ensemble is a regular feature of akkordeon akut!

This year’s show includes Gustav Holst's "St. Paul's Suite "for string orchestra, the Partita piccola of the Czech composer Jindřich Feld and music from" Fiddler on the Roof", the world's award-winning and successful musical by Jerry Bock based on the novel", Tevye the Milkman "by Sholem Aleichem. and also "Fantasy" from Lutz Stark, who
is since 1996 the artistic director and conductor and has dedicated his latest work "his" LAESA.
